More About Jessie Li

Growing up in Shanghai, I had always been athletic. In fact, when I was 8 years old, I qualified for China’s junior Olympic team in the 100-meter sprint.

Immigrating to the United States took me away from track and field for a few years, as I focused my efforts on learning English, but in college I rediscovered my love for fitness again. But this time, it came with a price.

Even though I was exercising 4-5 times a week, dancing, and playing tennis, I wasn’t healthy. I was battling an eating disorder that was taking a toll on my body and health. Although it wasn’t easy, after years of hard work, I managed to overcome my illness completely and have never had a relapse.

I know what it’s like to experience a severe challenge to my health — it’s scary and difficult to face — but I also know what it’s like to triumph over that challenge.

In 2010, I decided to use my experiences to forge a career as a personal trainer. I started out at Bally Fitness, and then joined Body Mechanix Cooperative as an independent contractor; in 2011, Jessie Li Fitness was born.

Since then, I’ve completed two half marathons, competed in a bikini bodybuilding competition, and pursued my passion for helping people live a better lifestyle. I’ve worked with a diverse clientele list — my clients are of all ages, genders, body types, and have various fitness goals.

I bring positivity, motivation, and technology to each client and tailor workouts to fit their needs and goals. Not only that, I teach my clients how to take control of their lives and achieve their goals. The journey may not be easy, but it’s well worth it!
